Welcome to the Town of Mendon!
It is difficult to imagine the Town of Mendon once being a dense forest and also to visualize Honeoye Creek as ever having been a roaring stream. The Town of Mendon today is much different from the log cabin era of 1790 when oxen pulled covered wagons through mud holes, when our pioneer families planted the seeds of settlement, and wolves howled in the woods behind the clearings. And this was the beginning.
Today, the Town of Mendon is a community of over 9,100, with plenty to offer residents of all ages! From shopping & dining both in the Hamlet of Mendon, as well as the Village of Honeoye Falls, to the variety of festivals, fairs & other community events, there is always something for everyone. Mendon Ponds Park is the largest Monroe County Park with 2,500 acres of woodlands, ponds, wetlands and glacially created landforms. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, sledding, bird-watching & feeding, canoeing, kayaking & more. Also located within the park are the Nature Center, Sharon’s Sensory Garden, and Wild Wings educational & bird rehabilitation organization.
